Although racism can be seen on an everyday basis, Many people may not know its true meaning. This is why I chose to talk about it and gave two meanings in the first slide of my presentation. In2019, sixty-four percent of Americans from different backgrounds say racism remains a major problem in our society. I chose to speak about why racism is taught in the second slide to explain to my audience how humans arent born racist. Racism is a trait that is embedded into the minds of people starting from a young age. Racism is like a contagious disease that can be absorbed from people’s surroundings. With social media people now can see the truth. There are many types of racism. A very common one is systemic racism. A recent example of systemic racism is the tragic events that many black Americans experienced in America. This thankfully leads up to the Black lives matter movement. In 2020 7 in 10 black Americans say they have experienced incidents of discrimination. As a young Arab American woman from the Bronx, I have experienced racism in my community as well as racism. In my fifth and sixth slides, I chose to show pictures from a protest I went to that is against the oppression of the people of Palestine and wrote a poem. This means so much to me since my origins are Palestinian. I also would like to educate more people about Palestine because I feel as if many don’t know about this topic
